The trip starts from the picturesque village of Arachova, known for its handmade carpets and other handicrafts. Then we meet Delphi, which in ancient times was considered to be the center of the world. There used to be the temple of Apollo, where Pythia had been known to make the most famous prophecies in his name. Also located there are: the Krystallia Spring, the water of which is said to have anti-aging properties, and an archaeological museum with amazing exhibits. (E.g. Iniohos – Charioteer)
You will have the opportunity to taste the Greek cuisine in a traditional tavern and then we continue to check in at the hotel in Kalambaka.
On the second day, it’s Meteora turn. Monasteries built on steep rocks and forming the second largest conventual unit in Greece. Access to them can be tricky, as it is achieved through narrow paths on the carved rocks or through suspension bridges swinging over the void. We will visit two monasteries where you will have the opportunity to learn about the daily life of the monks, to explore ancient temples, wall paintings and old pictures. In the monasteries you can also find preserved ancient relics and a priceless collection of manuscripts. On the way back there will be a short stop at the monument of Thermopylae.
