The exit of the gorge is located beside the beachside road that goes from Alepochori to Mavrolimni.
It is distinctive because it is an extremely narrow crack formed in the creek that runs through this part of the mountain.
Approaching the entrance is relatively easy through a forest road network, but you will need specific instructions to avoid searching around.
At the place where we leave the car we enter the streambed, where we find the ruins of a watermill. After a fifteen-minute walk we reach the first descent, which is easy enough to make equipment-free.
Small consecutive descents that each doesn’t exceed the eight meters high, lead us into the depths of the canyon, which with its small width and snaky course leaves us unable to guess how it turns.
About halfway through the course we come across a widening and then a surprise awaits: a one-piece waterfall, twenty meters high.
Shortly after the descent of the waterfall, the exit appears on the background.
After a few consecutive small rappels (abseils) we reach the beachside road.
The gorge has in total fourteen descents, all of which have been secured with stainless steel plates of canyoning, with industrial plugs of 10 mm.
The descent by an experienced group will not take more than two hours. We believe it is appropriate for any canyoning-beginner, even though it doesn’t have much water.
