Classical Tour – Four Days

 

This four-day journey offers a fascinating glimpse into Greece’s rich history, from prehistoric times through the Classical era, Roman domination, the Byzantine Empire, the Crusades, and modern history.

 

Day 1:

On the first day, the tour departs along the coastal road, with a brief stop at the Corinth Canal. The first major visit is to the Theatre of Epidauros, renowned for its extraordinary acoustics. The journey continues with a photo stop in the charming town of Nauplion before heading to Mycenae to explore its Archaeological Site and the Tomb of Agamemnon. The day concludes with a scenic drive through the Peloponnese, passing Tripolis and Megalopolis, and arriving in Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games, where you will stay overnight and enjoy dinner.

 

Day 2:

On the second day, the morning is dedicated to visiting the Sanctuary of Olympian Zeus, the Ancient Stadium, and the Archaeological Museum in Olympia. The tour proceeds through the fertile plains of Eliad and Achaia, crossing the impressive Rion-Antirion Bridge over the Corinthian Bay. After passing through the picturesque towns of Nafpactos (Lepanto) and Itea, the day ends in Delphi, where you will stay overnight and have dinner.

 

Day 3:

The third day begins with a visit to the Archaeological Site and Museum of Delphi. Following this, the tour departs for Kalambaka, a small town nestled at the base of the spectacular Meteora rock formations. Overnight accommodation and dinner are provided in Kalambaka.

 

Day 4:

On the fourth day, the highlight is a visit to the Meteora Monasteries, which are perched atop massive rock pillars and feature stunning examples of Byzantine art. The return journey to Athens passes through Trikala, Lamia, and Thermopylae, with a short stop at the Leonidas Monument. Arrival in Athens is scheduled for early evening, with guests staying along the coast returning to their hotels around 19:30.
